The Pace of Mind Group Therapy Walk is a therapist-led discussion and walk focusing on navigating transitions from empty nesting to parenting children with emotional and behavioral challenges to challenging relationships and more. Group walks can be customized by topic, group participants, location (Westchester and New York City) and days (Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays). Groups are comprised of two to six participants plus the therapist. Experts in fields such as women’s health, family medicine, nutrition and career guidance join us for theme-based walks. Participants can expect to feel validated and supported by each other and learn tools and strategies from our group exchange and discussion in the fresh air. Advance registration is required.

Please note, if the scheduled times do not work for you or there is a different topic you would like to explore, Group Walk and Talks can be customized by theme, group participants, location and times. I can work with you to put together your own groups on different topics, days (Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays) and at select locations in Westchester and Manhattan.

How do you address confidentiality in a group environment? +

Pace of Mind Group Therapy provides an opportunity to share experiences in a non-judgmental, supportive environment. Through the theme format, you learn from other participants while gaining insight into yourself and your needs. This is an open group in which participants may join at any time. Ground rules for confidentiality will be established at the start of each group walk and talk.

What is your confidentiality policy? +

Confidentiality is my highest priority. I follow all New York State laws and regulations regarding the confidentiality and privacy of your medical records. Because I do not submit insurance claims to health insurance providers, we are not required to comply with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.) All of your treatment whether in my office or outside is kept confidential. In exceptional circumstances, a court may order the release of information. Otherwise, releasing information to any agency or individual will require a signed release of information from you.

What if I don’t feel comfortable in the group? +

Depending on your level of discomfort and whether it is emotional or physical, will inform how we deal with it. At no time should you feel any pressure to divulge anything you do not want to.

What if the weather is inclement? +

If the weather forecast indicates rain, high winds or other conditions that could make it difficult to walk, we will not conduct our outdoor group therapy. I will give you as much notice as possible if there is a cancellation. I will make every effort to reschedule the group session.

What is the cancellation policy? +

You may cancel up to 24 hours in advance without any penalty. Failure to show up or a cancellation within the 24 hour window, results in a 50% fee. Exceptions include illness or extenuating family situations.

Patients are given a monthly statement which they may file with their insurer if they have out of network psychotherapy insurance. Please be advised that your insurance provider may not cover psychotherapy services provided outside of the office.
